The beginning of the story. A Jakob Weber crime novel.
As a newly qualified police officer, Jakob Weber is tired of patrolling the streets of Bodø. When he is offered a job as local police chief in Beiarn, he sees it as a chance for a fresh start in a small, close-knit community. But the idyllic setting begins to crack before he has even unpacked.
His predecessor has died in a tragic accident. Jakob is the only one who refuses to accept the official explanation. When a resident of the local nursing home disappears without a trace, Jakob’s investigation leads him into a web of rumours, old conflicts and silent alliances in the village, concealing more than anyone is willing to admit. Then the missing man turns up again, alive. Only to die a few days later, under mysterious circumstances.
Jakob digs deeper. Too deep.
When a pig’s head is thrown through his window in the middle of the night, he realizes how serious the situation is. Someone is watching him. Someone wants to stop him.
Because in Beiarn, the truth is buried, and anyone who goes looking for it risks being buried alongside it.
