Ragnar Aalbu

Ragnar Albu (b. 1966) is a Norwegian illustrator and picture book author. He made his debut with Cow Focus in 2004, receiving the Department of Culture Debutant Prize. His books have received Department of Culture prizes thrice – The Picture Book Prize (2018), the Prize for Educational Works (with Stein Erik Lunde, 2015), and the aforementioned Debutant Prize. He has been nominated another three times.

Crocodile in a tree (Cappelen Damm, 2015) and George is Gone (Ena Publishing, 2021) were both nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize, in 2016 and 2022 respectively.

Aalbu has also received prices in the Grafill Most Beautiful Books of the Year Awards and the Visuelt competition, and has been bought for the National Library’s collection of book illustrations.
